Senior Legal Counsel to join Danske Commodities in Aarhus | focus on: compliance
On behalf of Danske Commodities, PBO is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel dedicated to compliance and with an interest in further developing skills in regard to regulatory compliance within the energy industry
We are looking for an experienced legal counsel/ attorney-at-law to a newly created position as Senior Legal Counsel role in our Compliance team, where you will play a pivotal role in managing and developing our compliance activities with a specific focus on compliance with energy trading and financial regulations such as the REMIT, MAR, EMIR and MifiD regulations.
You have a solid professional background as legal counsel (inhouse or from a law firm) working with regulatory matters and preferably experience – or a strong interest –in compliance and regulatory matters specific to the energy industry.
The job is located at our headquarters in Aarhus and allows working from home up to 3 days per week.
The job entails:
As our new Senior Legal Counsel, you will join our Compliance team responsible for managing Danske Commodities’ compliance program, covering both business ethics and compliance with energy and financial regulations. We support the entire organization, locally and globally, and we collaborate closely with stakeholders from our commercial activities.
The Compliance team is part of the Legal & Compliance business unit and consists of five dedicated and motivated specialists and analysts.

You have experience with regulatory matters such as competition law, financial regulations, energy regulations or equivalent. It is not a requirement that you have previously worked specifically with compliance or the energy industry, as you can still draw on your legal and regulatory background to provide valuable, hands-on support to the organization and help us navigate the changing regulatory landscape and the growing need for robust compliance.
Your areas of responsibility will include the following:
- staying updated on regulatory developments related to trading compliance, particularly REMIT, MAR, EMIR and MiFID regulations
- translating your knowledge into clear and practical advice, while driving a compliance culture through regular meetings with stakeholders from our commercial business activities
- leading and directing the review, implementation and communication of robust and globally consistent policies, guidelines and procedures
- executing compliance training for trading teams and other relevant employees across the organization
- leading and organizing risk assessments in coordination with stakeholders from across the organization – and identifying and communicating recommendations for risk mitigation
- proficient in English (fluent in written and spoken English)
In this position you report directly to Tilde Vemmelund Jensen, Compliance Officer and Manager, Head of Compliance.
